Riga May 11, 1931" PUTILOVA Praskovya Mikhailovna (? - November 15, 1937, Riga). She was buried in Riga at the Intercession Cemetery. Leonid Sobinov has repeatedly been on tour in Riga - he participated in the performance of operas and gave solo concerts. The Sobinov family often visited Latvia, as they maintained close family relations with the Mukhin family of Riga merchants. Visits to relatives in Riga were most often linked with the singer's tour in Latvia, but not only: it is known that the Sobinovs spent the summer of 1933 in Kemeri. Dates of Sobinov's tour in Riga in 1920-30s: 1923, May - sang the title role in "Lohengrin"; 1923, December - Lensky in "Eugene Onegin" and the main part in "Lohengrin", and also sang 2 solo concerts; 1927, September 23, in the Great Guild - a solo concert; 1931, May 7, at the National Opera - solo concert. The eldest son, Boris Sobinov, accompanied the singer. On October 11, 1934, Sobinov once again arrived in Riga with his wife and daughter. I stopped at the Petersburg Hotel, which was located on one of the central squares of the Old City. The family planned to be in the city for a few days. But on October 14, 1934, at 5:30 in the morning, he died in the same hotel, according to the official version - from a broken heart. Sobinov was 62 years old ... In the evening of the same day, the body of Leonid Sobinov was transported to the Soviet embassy. And on October 16, at 11.30, a civil memorial service was served in the premises of the USSR Embassy, followed by a farewell to the great singer. On that day, Latvian Radio broadcast a program composed of sound recordings with the most popular arias and romances performed by Leonid Vitalyevich Sobinov. Sculptor Burkards Dzenis, one of the founders of professional Latvian sculpture, has removed his death mask. Sobinov's body was transported to Moscow by a special funeral train. Leonid Sobinov was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy Cemetery. The tombstone was made by a famous sculptor and his relative - Vera Mukhina
