Ainaž Sea School "Haynasch Seemannsschule" - inscription in German. Ainaži sea school was the first new type (Valdemāra) sea school in the territory of Latvia. Founded in Ainaži on November 23, 1864 at the initiative of Krišjānis Valdemārs. Kristians Dahl became the first head of the school. Jūrskola was founded in a house belonging to J. Veidem in Ainaži. In 1870, a special maritime school building was built, and in 1902, a new two-story school building was built on a plot of land donated by Jānis Veide. Both maritime school buildings burned down during the Second World War.
