Antique Japanese bone china cup, very old Hachirode..Hand painted.19th century Iidaya (飯田屋)nIn 1831, the Yoshidaya kilns in Daishoji changed hands and became the property of Miyamoto-ya Uemon (宮本屋宇右衛門). The ideological inspirer and “art director” of the workshop was the artist Iidaya Hachiro-emon (飯田屋八郎右衛門). Over the next 20 years, Miyamoto's kilns produced aka-e (赤絵, literally: "red paintings") porcelain, finely and elegantly painted with red enamels and gilding. The design was dominated by a variety of floral and geometric patterns. This style is today named after its creator, Hachirode (八郎手, “Hachiro’s hand”).
