Oto Pladers learned in Riga city school of art (1913 – 15). He was called into the army in 1916 and continued studies after the war in Latvia Art academy under the guidance of J. R. Tillbergs (1921 – 25) and V. Purvitis (1926 – 29), but he didn’t graduate academy. O. Pladers worked as a teacher in school of Dubulti and later in Tartu school of art “Pallas” (1925 – 26). He worked as a stage designer in National Opera (1936), as a restorer in City art museum (1938). After the Second World War artist was a pedagogue in J. Rozentals Riga School of art. He was a member of Independent artists society (1923 – 40), and took part in its exhibitions since 1923. Artist set out on a creative journey to Paris in 1930. Self-exhibitions were made in Riga (1930, 1932, 1967).
