Alfejs Bromults (1913-1991)
Alfejs Bromults was one of the most popular artists of time. He painted landscapes, flowers and portraits in a realistic manner. Great value gave to colour.
Alfejs Bromults was born on April 3, 1913 in Madona district.
Acquired Professional education at Public University at teachers R.Suta, J.Bine, G.Skilters. Studied at J.R.Tillbergs’ Masterclass (1938), at the Latvian Academy of Art (1940 – 1944). Began the Diploma Work “Fair” under the supervisor of L.Liberts, head of the Figural Painting Masterclass. It was not finished due to the War.
He worked as a retoucher of photos (1936-1940), as artist in the portrait studio of the Art combine “Maksla” (1948-1952).
Alfejs Bromults was a member of the LSSR Artists’ Union since 1957.
In exhibitions participated since 1943. Personal exhibitions were organized in Riga (1959, 1976, 1987, 1988), Tukums (1959), Cesis and Madona (1960), Dobele (1963), Rezekne (1964), Lithuania (1976), Abkhazia (1977), Roja (1978), Limbazi (1981), Liezere (1983), Saldus (1988). Memorial exhibition - in Riga (1991).
Alfejs Bromults died on January 11, 1991 in Riga.
