Aleksandrs Zviedris (1905-1993)
Aleksandrs Zviedris studied painting with D. Gailitis since 1928, then in drawing courses at K. Brencens in the Latvian Art Academy (1934 – 35), and in the studio of J. R. Tillbergs (1938 – 40).
The artist visited Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark in 1938 on a yacht, then he traveled in Europe - visited England, France, Holland and Germany in 1939.
A. Zviedris took part in exhibitions since 1932. He organised about 50 solo exhibitions in Riga, Tukums, Jurmala, Ventspils, Liepaja etc.
His works were exhibited in Krasnojarsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Germany, Japan, England, Sweden, Austria, Lebanon, USA, Italy, Finland, Belgium, Chile and Egypt.
A. Zviedris was a member of the Latvian Artists’ Union since 1945.
