Nikolajs Kulainis (1901-1975)
Painted mainly city and rural landscapes. A special recognition has received for sights of Riga in light of night fires.
Nikolajs Kulainis was born on March 17, 1901 in Riga.
From 1924 to 1931 studied in the Latvian Academy of Art (he was deducted from department of figurative painting).
Nikolajs Kulainis was one of founders and heads of association "Radigars". Since 1936 he participated in a society of the Latvian artists, since 1939 - in association of artists "Rosme". Since 1944 it was a member of the Latvian SSR Artists’ Union.
The artist participated in exhibitions since 1929. After the Second World War in exhibitions of republic participated seldom, but has on a regular basis organized small personal exhibitions in Riga and in a province.
Nikolajs Kulainis died on March 15, 1975 in Riga.
